Fire-protection systems can create a cross-connection risk. The required protection depends on the system design, water-use conditions, and the hazards present.
What Buckeye requires
The City of Buckeye code allows an approved double-check valve assembly for certain engineered fire-line systems. A higher level of protection may be required when additives, auxiliary water supplies, or other hazards are present. The approved assembly must be tested at least once each calendar year by a certified backflow assembly tester.
Before scheduling
- Identify the assembly type and size.
- Have the City notice or due date available.
- Tell the service provider whether the fire system contains additives or connects to another water source.
- Coordinate any required shutdown with the fire-alarm or fire-protection provider.
Important: Fire-line testing should be coordinated by a qualified backflow tester and, when needed, a properly licensed fire-protection contractor.
