Commercial and industrial connections are among those identified by the City of Buckeye for backflow protection. Managed properties may also have irrigation, fire-line, domestic, or specialty assemblies that require separate coordination.
Commercial Properties and Systems
Retail and offices
Coordinate access, operating hours, tenants, and water interruptions.
Multifamily and HOAs
Maintain assembly inventories, notice records, and responsible contacts.
Restaurants and medical sites
Plan testing around sensitive operations and equipment.
Industrial facilities
Identify process connections, hazards, and approved protection.
Schools and institutions
Coordinate access, schedules, and responsible facility personnel.
Dedicated irrigation
Track landscape assemblies and seasonal access requirements.
Compliance scope
What to verify for each assembly
- Current certified tester
- Assembly identification and accessible location
- Annual due date and city notice
- Approved assembly type for the connection
- Reporting and record-retention process
- Repair, permit, replacement, and retest requirements
A practical workflow
Keep the compliance file complete
- 1
Inventory
Confirm every known assembly, address, identifier, and responsible contact.
- 2
Test and correct
Document the result and promptly address failed or damaged equipment.
- 3
Retest and report
Retain passing documentation and verify submission through the city process.
Commercial Deadlines
Required assemblies must be tested at least once each calendar year. When an assembly fails, Buckeye City Code states that consumers other than single-family residential consumers must complete the necessary repair, overhaul, or replacement within ten days, followed by retesting and submission of results within the code’s stated period.
Permits
The city code requires a permit for installation or replacement of a required assembly for consumers other than single-family residential consumers. Confirm current instructions before authorizing work.
